MythTV/ubuntu: Use auto-build repository

I was just on #mythtv-users bitching about some of the problems I'm
having (error messages. etc, more VERY annoying than showstoppers) since
upgrading to the new MythTV version in Karmic. Someone there claims
that the Ubuntu repositories have a horribly outdated release of much of
the components, and in fact isn't even up to the officially released
0.22. Verifying the release numbers, it sounds like he's right.

Does anyone here use the auto builds to get the latest and greatest
fixes for the current release?

How risky is that?
Anyone else doing it?
