One of the first things I did was to check my firmware. I found that I
was unable to do this through our VPN, so I moved the MyBook to a port
outside of our firewall, and things worked, but I was unable to install
Martin Hinner's patch or an alternate patch. Martin Hinner's patch is:
http://<IP-OF-YOUR-MYBOOK>/auth/firmware_upgrade.pl?fwserver=3Dmartin.hin=
ner.info/mybook/firmware.php

I get a 404 Error, not found.

On further investigation, Martin Hinner's patch is no longer necessary
as you can enable ssh directly from the web interface and log in
directly as root. Another note is that the su(1) command is no longer
included in busybox, so if you want to create local users and become
root, you'll need to install the sudo command from optware.
