Obtaining BIOS and memory info?

Is there a Linux utility that can tell me the BIOS version of a motherboard?

How about one that reports what memory slots contain what amount of memory, and
the type of memory used in each slot?

I have RH FC5, Ubuntu, and Debian machines on which the tool(s) would be most
helpful. It would obviously be strongly desired to not have to shut down and
reboot said systems in order to gain at the least the BIOS version.

Thanks.

Scott
