Never question the gifts of the gods ...



Thanks to everyone for their suggestions on how to recover my machine.

As fate would have it, the drive that crashed was an old IDE 40MB unit I was
using to boot back when I only had a 2910 SCSI card, and since I now have a
2940, I can boot directly from my SCSI drive.

Problem solved, for now, but I still welcome suggestions on how to plan and
execute the migration to the "new" machine.
