Hi,
This month, we are especially fortunate to have Alan Field as our
presenter. Alan is an educational consultant with a very special
mission—to bring used Macintosh computers to South Africa! Alan has
transported 100s of computers and equipment to schools. But even more
importantly, he travels there on a regular basis to provide maintenance
and training so that the machines are used by those who need them as
much as possible.
Alan's unique commitment to better the lives of others by recycling
computers serves as a beacon to those of us who let a computer sit on a
shelf because it's too useful to throw away. It takes energy and vision
to do the right thing. Alan will just have returned from his latest
excursion to South Africa so please join us for a very special evening
with a local hero.
For more about local Macintosh recycling, contact P.A.M. Borys at:
macwoburn at mac.com. MacWoburn attempts to place used Macs in local
schools, homes, and organizations and also has helped Alan locate
computers for Africa.
MacWoburn is a group of people who use Macintosh computers who gather
monthly at the Woburn Senior Center (144 School Street) on third
Wednesdays from 7–9PM to discuss and learn about new products, useful
techniques, and to offer solutions to each other's technological needs.
