Greetings all!
The "Blogging" presentation I was prepared to give this month has been=20=
moved back to May, due to the lively and productive interchange we had=20=
with the IDG folks at today's meeting.
Here's some "homework" to get you ready for next month's meeting.
First, if you have never heard of a "blog" before, check out=20
Blogger.com's definition and examples, as quoted below:
--------------------------------------------------------------
What is a weblog/blog?
A blog is a web page made up of usually short, frequently updated=20
posts that are arranged chronologically=97like a what's new page or a=20
journal. The content and purposes of blogs varies greatly=97from links=20=
and commentary about other web sites, to news about a=20
company/person/idea, to diaries, photos, poetry, mini-essays, project=20
updates, even fiction.
Blog posts are like instant messages to the web.
Many blogs are personal, "what's on my mind" type musings. Others are=20=
collaborative efforts based on a specific topic or area of mutual=20
interest. Some blogs are for play. Some are for work. Some are both.
Blogs are also excellent team/department/company/family communication=20=
tools. They help small groups communicate in a way that is simpler and=20=
easier to follow than email or discussion forums. Use a private blog=20
on an intranet to allow team members to post related links, files,=20
quotes, or commentary. Set up a family blog where relatives can share=20=
personal news. A blog can help keep everyone in the loop, promote=20
cohesiveness and group culture, and provide an informal "voice" of a=20
project or department to outsiders.
To see some examples of different types of blogs, see our Blog of the=20=
Week archive:

-------------------
Second, check out and follow the blog that I maintain along with my=20
wife Rebecca:
http://prwdot.org/
We update the blog regularly (every other day, sometimes more often),=20
so there should always be some interesting things on there. We also=20
have links to some other blogs on our own site, which you can feel free=20=
to check out.
Finally, check with your family and friends to see if any of them=20
currently have blogs.
Come to the meeting on Wednesday, May 19 with your questions, and I'll=20=
try to answer them, as well as show you some nice Mac apps to help you=20=
create and maintain a blog of your own!
