In addition to what Matt mentions, in the Ubuntu menu,
System/Administration/Screens and Graphics, check the video driver you
are using. Also your sync rate is probably 60Hz. Try some different
resolutions and test. LCD monitors are much less sensitive to settings
than are CRTs. You can ruin a CRT if you have the sync rates wrong, but
the LCDs are much different. Just experiment to see what looks good.
