It wouldn't bring up XWindows.  I just got a blank screen.

In safe graphics mode, I (after a few tries) got a blue background and a 
white cursor for a few seconds, then that died, too.  I end up back at 
the text mode list of starting processes, the last one being 
/etc/rc.local, but nothing happens after that.

Yes, I verified the media.
Yes I burned a second disk and got the same results.

Graphics card is an evga GeForce 8600 GT.  Apparently, I'm not alone.

Maybe I'll try it again some day on another machine (like my existing 
server, once the new one is online.  I am *so* not doing a text-mode 
install.
