My pet peeve is the way people misuse "literally."

"The crowd literally swamped the park!"
Oh really? So were there mangroves and alligators?

"He literally exploded off the starting line."
What did he use, gunpowder or  weapons grade plutonium?

"I literally didn't have time to pee."
