As a Systems Engineer at SiteSpect, your mission will be to ensure that our platform is always fast, available, scalable and engineered to withstand very high demand. You will be responsible for advanced technical work within SiteSpect's platform operations, often in the context of projects which will involve work delegated across a group of System Administrators. The Systems Engineer also leads the management and ongoing tuning of support infrastructure such as monitoring and configuration management systems. This position is an excellent opportunity for IT professionals who are interested not just in hands-on systems work, but also in the higher-level design, planning and management for scalability related projects for a rapidly growing technology platform.

- Test and validate new software version deployments when available; lead or assist System Administrators in conducting upgrades.
- Investigate and resolve escalated technical problems, particularly networking related - performing packet analysis, understanding and troubleshooting interaction issues with customer origin or CDN configurations, traffic drift and affinity problems, etc.
- Forecasting and planning for new system deployments, physical changes such as new POPs, power and rack space; maintain documentation around current infrastructure, including networking configurations and physical assets.
- Conduct modeling/simulations of traffic changes or system faults, for understanding the potential performance, reliability, and continuity impact under various scenarios.
- Communicate with and manage vendors around service delivery, remote hands requests, and problem investigation/resolution.
- Light development, including scripting and automation.
- This position has an on-call component for issue response.

== Requirements ==

- 6+ years of experience, in an operational role, for mid- to large-scale Linux/Unix environments.
- Demonstrated experience with design, integration and deployment of commercial and open source software solutions.
