[Discuss] [Position-available] Experienced System Administrator/Engineer



OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) is
a not-for-profit, international consortium that provides a robust internet-based
collaboration and document storage system to help drive the development,
convergence, and adoption of e-business standards. Founded in 1993, OASIS has
more than 4,000 participants representing over 600 organizations and individual
members in 100 countries.

OASIS (www.oasis-open.org) is looking for a motivated Systems
Administrator/Engineer with experience designing, deploying and maintaining
IT systems from hardware up through the platform and application stack to help
 us move from a self-hosted IT environment to a managed hosting environment.

Key Responsibilities:
 * Analyze and document existing OASIS IT systems to the level of
detail required to safely and efficiently rebuild those systems in a
managed hosting environment.
 * Refactor existing systems as appropriate to minimize costs in a
managed hosting environment.
 * Develop a detailed technical migration plan including
validation/verification.
 * Define and implement backup/restore processes to take advantage of
services available in the cloud.
 * Upgrade existing IT systems--OS (Debian), LAMP Stack, and
Applications--in preparation for migration to a managed hosting
environment.
 * Maintain existing IT systems until the migration to a managed
hosting solution is complete.
 * Migrate existing OASIS IT systems to a managed hosting solution
with no loss of service or data.
 * Primary technical interface with counterparts on the Service Provider side.
 * Technical support for the Service Provider selection process.

Qualifications:
 * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
 * Five+ years' experience in hardware and systems administration.
 * Five+ years' experience supporting an Internet-based business model
including a web development team and/or web applications
infrastructure with development, staging and production environments.
 * Experience with Cloud computing solutions--IaaS (Virtualization),
PaaS, SaaS--including migration from self-hosted environment
 * Installation, configuration, patching, package management of Server
Operating systems -mainly Debian. RedHat experience is a plus.
 * System and Network security including firewalls, routers, intrusion
detection, monitoring.
 * Hardware installation, configuration and management experience
including rack-mounted servers, switches (especially CISCO),
firewalls, routers, hubs, SAN, etc
 * Experience installing, maintaining and upgrading system and
platform services including LDAP, DNS/BIND, Apache, Tomcat, MySQL,
PHP, Java (JDK).
 * Email system installation, maintenance and administration including
exim, qmail, ezmlm, mhonarc, antivirus filtering with ClamAV, spam
filtering with SpamAssassin.
 * Familiarity with Internet protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP,
SMTP, SSL, (Open) SSH, VPN, WebDAV.
 * Application administration experience with Moin Moin Wiki, Drupal,
Subversion, Eventum, JIRA a plus.
 * Experience programming in C, Perl, Bash shell, PHP, Python.
 * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 * Flexibility to work independently and collaboratively with a virtual team.
