I'm happy with my color nook. My mother, aunt and daughter have Kindles.
I prefer the Color Nook for a number of reasons. But, in all fairness, I
have not looked closely at the Kindle Fire. As far as book reading goes
you can bring your nook into a B&N store for help as well as get free
temporary access to some books.
