networking and sendmail

It's likely DNS.  I don't know how you had it set up before, but did you 
happen to change from NAT to Bridge at the same time as you went to 
static IP addresses?

(grumble about using sendmail in the first place omitted, lest I send 
everyone hurtling off topic)
