Ubuntu problem with time change?

Powered on a 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS system this morning, the login
screen briefly appeared for maybe 1/2 to 1 second, then the desktop
appeared with the regular background, the clock (off by one hour (EDT))
and the icon for shutdown options, nothing else.

Rebooted and everything worked as expected with the time displaying
correctly (EST).

Has anyone else seen this?
