ISPs allowing desktop Linux client to surf the web?

I use Comcast as my ISP, and have been using Linux on the desktop
since ... oh forever. Telephone option for activation is easy, but any
borrowed machine will do and it only ever needs to be used once. After
that is is simple. I've had the modem fail, power down, all sorts of
stuff and have never had a problem. The ISP does not know, does not
care.
