Fwd: Important News from Speakeasy

I got this email from Speakeasy today. I hope this doesn't mean the end
of one of the few broadband options with friendly terms of service.
Covad's TOS for residential service was not as unequivocally
user-friendly as Speakeasy's; neither company has emphasized marketing
to residential customers for some time.

Most of Speakeasy's last-mile services were coming from Covad anyway, so
the merger makes sense in that regard.

Dear Speakeasy Customer,

Today is an important day for Speakeasy.

Speakeasy has reached an agreement to join with Covad Communications
Company, a leading national provider of IP broadband services in North
America and MegaPath Inc., a national provider of voice, data, security,
managed services and VPN services. This new entity combines Speakeasy?s
expertise in smaller business voice and data communications; MegaPath?s
wide selection of products and value-added services with Covad?s robust
network infrastructure. By combining these market leaders, the merger
promises to provide a superior selection of cost-effective IP voice,
data, and security solutions for all segments of the business market.

Customers have been asking us to take a broader role in helping them
meet their evolving communications needs, and the new company will
accomplish this as the only managed service provider capable of
providing a full range of Internet, voice, security, and VPN services,
backed by a nationwide network. The resources of the combined company
will enable us to expand our service offerings and provide more choices
and value for you.

The relationship with our customers has always been the most important
aspect of our business. Through our partnership with you, we have grown
over the last 15 years to become one of the country?s leading providers
of voice and data communications. This merger will add additional
resources and capabilities to expand our investments in serving you. We
plan to deliver new value added service offerings, expanded network
coverage, and innovative new support tools, in addition to all of the
benefits and products you currently receive from Speakeasy. We have
some exciting plans for the future, and we look forward to our continued
relationship.

We will continue to update you regarding this event. For more
information, please read the press release posted on
www.speakeasy.net/press. As always, we appreciate your trust and
support, and we can?t wait to show you the exciting future we have planned.

Sincerely,

Bruce Chatterley
President and CEO
