OT: What we want are things that work; what we get is technology



I find second-hand Cisco 1200 access points bought on Ebay from 
seller "gruzinchik" to be both extremely reliable and cheap, 
e.g., here's three for a total of $100 (need power adapter and 
antenna(s)):

For inexpensive Linux/OpenWrt-based mesh access points with a 
hardware watchdog and good for extending coverage through a large 
property, there's these from open-mesh

While the software is still in beta, revision 2690 is reportedly 
excellent.
