[Position-available] UNIX Administrator position in Framingham, MA



.         Contract to Hire
.         Contract Pay Rate: $53-58/hr (w2); Annual salary $85-90k
.         Initial placement through a recruiter onsite at our Retail client
          in Framingham, MA (no public transportation)
.         No telecommuting option; must be onsite Mon-Fri.
.         Looking for a Unix Administrator proficient with several flavors
          of Unix.  HP-UX and AIX are most important.

Job Description

Responsibilities: Provides technical support for HP -UX, AIX, and
Linux servers. Monitors server performance. Performs backups and
restores. Assists with Disaster Recovery. Maintains a problem tracking
system. Investigates and solves problems and escalates more serious
issues to senior staff.  Manages hardware and support calls to
vendors. Assists with the implementation of H/W and S/W. Assists the
technical, development, and end-user communities, if needed, with
problem resolution. Assists security, scheduling, and compliance
staffs with their needs. Documents procedures and policies. Maintains
inventory of equipment and media. Maintains knowledge of system
modifications and enhancements installed on relevant platforms.  Other
activities assigned: productions support on-call responsibilities.
 

Experience Required: Several years of experience in UNIX Technical
design and support environment. Must have experience with HP-UX
(11i.2) AIX (5.1-5.3), Linux (SUSE & Redhat), H/W (pSeries, xSeries,
HP), operations monitoring, software and hardware upgrade,
Sarbanes-Oxley and Audit compliance, security, Disaster Recovery,
backup/restore S/W (Tivoli) and Windows XP experience.  The following
technical skills are a "plus": DB2 UDB, Networking, Websphere, Apache,
LDAP, Disk/Storage Management (ESS, HP, EMC, other), HACMP, MQseries,
Candle Omegamon and Tivoli Monitoring.
