Flash drive recovery software for SD memory card?

There's an old Linux Journal article that has been mentioned on this 
list before that describes an involved process of repairing the file 
system on a memory card.

More recently in Linux Journal I've seen mention of a tool that 
specifically seeks out JPEG headers to recover photos. A few searches:
