samba and unix on standalone server

Hello All,
I have a standalone RHEL installation a wish to use UNIX username and password for Samba access-
I have read to use Ldapsam but have not been able to find a way to implement - can you share your thought or a pointer?

Thanks,

ldapsam backend stores both POSIX (UNIX) and Samba user and group account information in a single repository
