trailing slash in Apache

We have a new website up and running on an apache server, this is my first
foray into using Apache on a Linux box. My question is about our landing
pages we are setting up. They are our website with one word after the
domain so one landing page we started is www.sdmc.com/binderapp/ my
question is how do I get that page to work as www.sdmc.com/binderapp when
I try to put a redirect in the .htaccess folder the 307 redirect binderapp
to http://www.sdmc.com/binderapp/ it doesn't work is there another way to
make the site work without the trailing slash? (it is bringing up
index.html)

Thanks,
Michael
