further progress (and regress) on mythtv

All of those sort of work when running mplayer standalone. x11 looks
the best, but doesn't necessarily stay in sync with the sound as well
as some of the others.

But none of them helps when running mythtv. They do seem to change
the error messages, and some of them bring back the X crashing
behavior, but none of them produced a tv picture under mythtv.

So I'm suspecting that whatever mythtv does before passing the output
of the tv card to mplayer is the culprit.
