Simply get rid of your old crufty packages (one liner)

deborphan does not really do what you claim.  deborphan's main usage
is to look for libraries that are installed, but are no longer needed
by any packages.  You can use the '-a' option to search all packages,
but this will merely give you a list of packages that have no
dependencies, basically.  So, for instance, in the case of mozilla
changing to mozilla-browser, deborphan will not help you.  Someone has
mentioned that doing something like this used to be possible with
aptitude/synaptic (local or obsolete package identification), but I
can no longer see this functionality in newer versions unless there is
a bug or I am doing something wrong.  My solution worked great and now
my apt is mighty clean :-)  I am still open to suggestions if people
have ideas,,,
