Covad direct?

Has anyone tried subscribing to Covad's DSL residential services directly 
from Covad instead of using a reseller?   They have a $30/month service 
which looks appealing, and it would avoid the hassles of using a reseller 
and gets rid of the middle-"man". (though of course we have to deal with 
Verizon).

What are this list's insights?
