easy regex question: stops on some white space?
If you print $var1, or whichever of those is supposed
to contain the string you are matching against, do you
see the full multi-line string?
tom you're a freakin' brainiac! i've been wrestling
with regex for the last week and that wasn't even my
problem. i call fgets (and some other functions)
prior to preg_match and it's one of them screwing up
what i want. ooohhhh those sneaky problems that don't
produce log errors!

many thanks for the tip! you have set me back on the
right track.
