Laura,

Thank you! We're making progress!

I no longer get an error when php5 starts, so that's an improvement.
When I call the page that uses the database, however, I get only "Error
0 :" on the page output (at the point where php is calling mysql), and I
don't see any errors in the logs. The mysql.log and mysql.err files are
empty (zero length), and there's nothing in the php error file either. I
checked the various system logs, without finding any php or mysql
errors. The Apache2 log for the site shows the page being called with a
"200" result, but that's all.

As before, all suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance!

Bill
