vi

I used to love pico/nano, that's what I learned on (for shell
editing). It was great until I started working in a multi-user
environment where 1/2 dozen sysadmins are working on the same system
and sometimes trying to edit the same file. pico/nano doesn't use
swap files to lock the file from multiple people editing the same
file. Also, once I started learning VI, it is so much more powerful
with what you can do.
