That is the model that I have:
Downside: My wife's computer desk has a printer shelf that is too high
to see the controls and status. Some of the newer HP PSC machines have
a front panel. Also, some have a sheet feeder for the fax where ours is
only a flatbed (that was our choice). BTW: CompUSA is going out of
business and has just about everything discounted. I stopped by last
weekend, but I didn't think the deals were that good.

Bottom line:
We like the printer and it works fine both on Windows and Linux.
What I would buy next?
I would probably get a similar model with a sheet feeder, a front
panel, and network connectivity. With network, I would not have to deal
with my wife's Windows system.
What brands would I buy:
HP and Brother both seem to work well with Linux.
Epson makes a good printer, but the last one I had died.

What brands would I avoid:
Canon and Lexmark. Specifically Canon does not support Linux at all. I
don't know why I don't like Lexmark, probably because they make
printers for Dell, and my friend's printer really sucks.
