Well, perhaps you should Google it, or do a package search for
each OS.

Then you might find out that ifrename is part of the
wireless-tools package for Linux, that it works on any network
interface, that it has a man page, that there are blog postings
describing how people have used it, that there are bugs filed
against -- oh, all sorts of things.
