simple linux question

Hi,

I am totally unfamiliar with Linux (almost totally) and need to answer this question:

There are at least two ways to start a server (web, mysql, or other kind) at Linux boot.

  What are they?

I know this is cheating, but its for a good cause. Can someone help me out?

  Thanks,

  J
