Scanning for my printer's "new" IP address

You can use nmap for this.

nmap -sP 192.168.1.0/24

will do a ping sweep of your subnet looking for machines that 
respond.  If the printer is configured not to respond to ICMP, 
you can start doing trickier stuff with nmap to get a response.
