going green (MythTV: build or RPM?) [VMware]

I have moved all of my development/support systems to VMs - fantastic efficiencies realized.  So, I'm also planning to move most of my infrastructure systems (smtp, dns, dhcp, etc) to VMs and try to get down to two 24x7 servers.  Anyhow, a specific question: Do you run a firewall/router VM to manage access to your other VMs (eg: external traffic to/from internal mail server)?
