I'm looking for a decent picture slide show

If you've got Mono installed, I've heard good things about F-Spot.
I'd be surprised if it didn't have a slideshow option.

And there's always old reliable gqview, which I know has a
decent slideshow function. Also, there's no complicated import
to worry about; you just point it at a directory of image files.
