keyboard problem

This doesn't seem to do anything for my problem at all.  But I
discovered that if I boot with an external keyboard attached, the
numlocks on both the thinkpad keyboard and the regular keyboard work
just fine.  I reported the problem on ubuntu-users, and someone is
putting it into the bug database for me.
