another script question

First of all, i want to thank everyone for their help with my scripting
issues yesterday.

however i've come to the real issue at hand with these filames:

many of them are too long for the xbox filesystem.

theres alot of them and the are all spread out across
my /path/artist/album/track style directories.

does anyone know of a quick script or something to just walk through a
directory recursively, and remove any "trailing" characters off the end
of the files (not the directories?) since they are mp3s, i don't really
care about the file name, since everything important is in the tag. I
would do it myself, but i'm not sure how i would split the filename from
the path...

thanks everyone for the help again.
