SSL Certificate Authority renewal procedure?

I've got an SSL CA installed in my users' web browsers, and which I've 
also used to generate OpenVPN certificates. The CA is set to expire in 
February.

Is it possible to edit the expiration date, or do I have to create a new 
CA and then generate all new OpenVPN certificates and have everyone 
install the new CA certificate in their web browsers?
