Disk Recovery suggestions welcomed...

There is a program that comes on a number of bootable rescue 
CD's called testdisk. You may even have it on your default 
distribution. This tool had helped me on a couple of disk 
crashes. I would recommend it if the other suggestions do 
not work. It is primarily a mbr restoration tool. The 
website for the tool has been helpful.
