Switching motherboard: troubleshooting?

Doing a binary diff between this kernel and the one on the SUSE 10 boot disk,
it's the same.

Don't know how to check whether initrd needs something done to it.

I would expect that the CD (no partition table) is hd(1).  But that doesn't work.
