Printer setup under Suse 9.1

I recently installed Suse 9.1 (using KDE) and I want to have it talk
to the printer on my network. The cups utils are installed via YAST. I
used the "Print Manager" dialog to do "Add Printer/Class", and navigated
thru choosing the right printer driver, network address, etc. At the end
of it all, I tried to save the info but it wouldn't accept the user &
password I entered. I tried giving it the root user & password but it
wouldn't take that either. The message is "Authentication failed" and it
lets me re-try. But it won't take anything I enter. What am I doing
wrong?
