Wierd new problems with sendmail

lately I have been getting email stuck in the queue:
i9HL5Wk9005228        0 Sun Oct 17 17:05 <gaf at gaf.gaf.net>
                 (Deferred: Connection refused by dev.null.)
                                         <gaf at theworld.com>

My mailertable entry is:
.theworld.com           smtp:asgard.blu.org

This appears only to be for hosts where I am routing through my
mailertable. Initially, I had some of these going through comcast.
The problem started about 1 or 2 weeks ago.

I've been using my old tried and true sendmail.cf.
My sendmail is: 8.12.10
Mon 26 Jan 2004

This might be an rtfm question since I have the Sendmail manual.
