USB-Serial adapter success stories?

Has anybody used any of the serial-to-USB adapters under Linux (ideally,
kernel 2.4)? I'm considering them as an alternative to handle 4-6 serial
devices (RS-232). I'm wondering if a bunch of these adapters to a hub
would work. It would give me a LOT of flexiblity if so.

Any tips appreciated!

- Bob
