BIOS Stuff

Quick question as I explore the depths of my Inspiron laptop.
I looked at the BIOS and saw this:

Intel Pentium4: 3.06GHz/1.60GHz
...
Current CPU Speed: 1.60GHz

This bothers me because I bought a 3GHz machine. Since the BIOS did not
give me any option to change current cpu speed, can somebody fill me in on
why my machine has two speeds and how I can be on something other than the
lowest one?

Duane
