icmp flooding, distributed ddos? (Jeff Kinz)

I wouldn't know how to identify a distributed icmp dos if I saw one, but
you may recall last Friday I noticed an upsurge in "background" network
traffic and last night, I noticed that it was extremely heavy.
Unfortunately, I was unable to run ethereal at the time because my
keyboard flaked out on me at the same time (weird coincidence, eh?) and I
was unable to enter the root password on my machine. (Took me a while to
figure out why I couldn't log in as root since the password is obscured!)
Maybe we've got a new worm in the works?

Ilane
