Quoin Inc. is a small J2EE software consultancy with emphasis on
providing high caliber systems integration solutions. We are currently
looking
for an entry level System Administrator who is self motivated,
goal oriented, and looking to further his or her skillset. A willingness
to also develop, usually in Java, is a serious plus.

Requirements:
 * TCP/IP networking skills: setup, troubleshooting, security
 * Experience with GNU/Linux
 * Ability to troubleshoot MS Windows desktop machines (NT,98,2k,XP)
 * Willingness to learn
 * Flexible schedule

Responsibilites:
 * Maintain the production, development, and intranet services
   Debian servers. This includes such services as email (exim,uw-imapd),
   authentication (PAM/LDAP), www (apache,php/horde), java env.
(tomcat,jboss),
   secure remote access (ssh,IPSec), and others.
 * Manage system and network security (firewalls, exposed servers, etc)
 * Configure and install new servers
 * Configure and install desktop PCs, Windows and Linux
 * Document system configurations and installation approaches
 * Script and automate tedious tasks

Pluses:
 * Prior experience with Debian GNU/Linux
 * Prior system administration experience
 * Knowledge of NFS, IPSec, SSH, SMTP, IMAP, LDAP
 * Prior use of various tools/services: iptables, ssh, FreeS/WAN, hping2,
   nmap, dhcpd, exim, cron, amanda, and others.
 * Knowledge of shell, perl and/or python scripting
 * Familiarity with such standards as FHS and LSB spec.
 * Familiarity with Java, C++, XHTML, XML, and CSS
 * Interest in becoming a Java developer and/or Sys. Admin. Guru
 * Belief in and preparedness for Murphy's Law


This position is part-time. Key factors in the decision-making
process are oriented toward immediate availability, the ability to adjust
and learn quickly, and a willingness to work hard.
