Open Season on Open Source? (heh)

There's a big hot-air front over Utah that is detouring lots of stormy
weather for the East coast. It finally rains out here as much as it
does -your- way.

Please let me know if you will reconsider attending a BLU meeting.... I *do*
think the discguise of suspenders, pillow under the shirt, and fake-beard
will work... especially since Richard is out of town. Trust me on this one,
no one from BLU your real identity..

-Scott
PS - nice random-Yahoo email generator. It's getting harder for for regular
people to mass-spam using scripts, since the webmail signup process includes
typeing in screen images that usually can't be OCR'd. Looks like you have
support for this... but I trust your budget is coming from Balmer, and not
the 'Technical' side of the company..?

Subject: Open Season on Open Source?

> TWIMC:

> Hiawatha Bray has an article on the opening page of the Business
> section in today's Boston Globe, entitled "Open Season on Open
> Source".
>
> Mr. Bray paints the SCO lawsuit as a serious threat to the use of
> Linux, with prominent mention of SCO's FUD letters going out to every
> Linux user it can find, and a declaration that SCO "Owns the legal
> rights to Unix". There's no refutation or legal opinion to the
> contrary: Mr. Bray doesn't even mention Novell's claims.
>
> In addition, the article has no information about SCO's profitability,
> or the likelihood of it returning profits by a means other than
> lawsuits.
>
> The first three letters of the article are "FUD". I wonder if there's
