VGA to Sun adapter

I used one of these to put a Sun box on a KVM switch at home. I've also
seen
these used at several places I've worked in the past. Every one I saw, from
several different vendors, had the same problem: the top 48 scan lines on
the
monitor were always distorted, and I was never able to find a fix for it.
I've assumed it's a fundamental incompatibility between VGA video and the
type
of video the Suns use.
