Gentoo used to recommend against Reiserfs.  I just checked up on this at
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/build.html, and they've changed their tune.
The instructions now state "Note: As of 2.4.18 ReiserFS support can now
be considered stable."

This is good to hear.  While journaling is certainly nice, ReiserFS
plans to do much more.  The overview of Reiser 4, at
http://www.namesys.com/ (no direct url, buried under cgi stuff, yuck) is
worth a read.
