Copying a Front Page Generated Web site

It sounds like you're implying that the IMG tag reads 

    <img src="./foo/map1.gif">

but the gif file doesn't exist at ./foo/map1.gif.

In other words, Frontpage makes a mess of its generated web pages. Somehow
I'm not surprised to hear this.

I'm not aware of any tools to undo a mess like that; you'll probably have 
to roll your own, as you suspected. 

It's just part of the cost of doing business with Microsoft  :-P
