large file problem in rh7.1

No, that wouldn't have affected ftp.

Now that I think of it, I saw something weird once when I tried to 
copy an 8 GB file over NFS, that might have been similar. Perhaps 
the filesize is N * 2 GB + 50 MB? Maybe the filesize calculation 
in these tools is silently overflowing a 32-bit signed integer.
