Internal mail or chat MS98 and NT to Linux

I have a home network that has one of each OS. I
can use smbclient to send messages to WinPopup on
the 98 machine but have found no mechanism to
receive a reply. 98 can send popup messages to NT
but I have not found the reverse. I have been told
by a Unix user that I need to set up a "Wall". I
have not found a Howto for this service. Do any of
you know where I could get the information I need?
